ITV confirms that Rufus Hound has entered coronavirus isolation and consequently will miss the next two shows of Dancing On Ice.

Rufus Hound could be forced to quit Dancing On Ice after being instructed to enter self-isolation.

The 41-year-old comedian performed on last week's launch show and impressed the judges, earning a golden ticket straight through to the next round.

While he was not scheduled to perform an individual routine on this week's show, he was due to be part of a group dance number but must now isolate at home after coming into contact with someone who has tested positive for coronavirus.

Although he is said to have tested negative, government rules require him to isolate for 10 days, meaning that he will not only miss tomorrow night's show but also next week's too.

"This week Rufus Hound came into contact with someone outside of the show who tested positive for COVID-19," an ITV spokesperson told The Mirror.

"This means, following government guidelines, he will isolate for ten days. We are hoping to welcome him back to the ice soon.

"We continue to have a robust set of measures in place to operate safely within COVID-19 guidelines and to ensure the wellbeing of everyone connected with the production."

Posting on Twitter about the news, Hound wrote: "It's a bit of a kick in the dick, but just want to give full props to ITV who were super prepared for this sort of thing and have kept me and everyone in the production as safe as they possibly could. Will be back asap for more ridiculous icedancing x"

Dancing On Ice continues Sunday at 6pm on ITV.
