Recap of the fifth episode of Big Brother Australia, which culminates with another housemate saying their goodbyes.

Spoiler warning: This article contains details about Big Brother Australia which some readers may wish to avoid.

Day 10 started with bad news for pet-lover Ian, who was informed by Big Brother that his huntsman spider Patricia had died.

Angela, meanwhile, was still buzzing after orchestrating Talia's eviction the night before. "I have dethroned the Queen and in the castle all the workers are free," she told BB. "That's exciting and I'm here for it. I am so proud of myself for that big move. People were putting Dan and Talia up on a pedestal. I really hope Dan has learnt a lesson."

Daniel did indeed seem humbled and admitted that he would now have to change his tactics to take the target off his back. "I think Talia got voted out because she brought a lot of drama with her," he reflected. "I'm just a guy - I didn't realise how much of a vibe Talia had created with the other housemates. My gameplan going forward is try to get along with everyone, make everyone smile and keep them happy."

Daniel went on to make amends with Angela and reassured her that things were fine between them, asking for forgiveness for his previous aggressive gameplay.

For the day's reward challenge, Kieran - by any measure, one of Australia's worst drivers - was required to perform a three-point turn in the garden in order to win pizzas for the whole house.

Kieran managed to complete the exercise in the allotted time, but in doing so took several chunks out of Big Brother's wall - and as a consequence, he would be unable to enjoy the pizza feast with the rest of the group.

Reflecting on how ostracised he felt, Kieran confessed in the diary room that he was planning a risky game move to improve his standings. "I've never felt more alone than I do now," he said. "At this point I'm not in any group because no-one wants to work with me. I know people will nominate me again because I'm the easy option. But I'm a cheeky bugger, I'm trying to further myself in this game. I need to come up with a little fib or white lie to put the target on someone else."

Without delay, Kieran duly informed Garth that he had heard Danni call him "a snake", sending Garth on a spiral that led him to misinterpret an innocent comment from Danni as a bitchy remark. "Danni's got to go, she's bringing down the whole [house]," he confided to Marissa. "I'm just not feeling it."

For the latest nominations challenge, each housemate had to hold an arm in the air and prevent water from escaping from their funnel - and when the funnel ran dry, they were eliminated.

BB was successful in tempting some housemates to abandon their funnels to enjoy treats in the diary room, with Sarah the first to quit to enjoy a jug of mango nectar.

Chad gave up his spot to spend some time with his pet dog Buddy, while at the three-hour mark, Daniel beat Ian in a race for a meal of steak and red wine.

The already poor weather took a turn for the worse and when BB offered up "an advantage in the game", both Garth and Kieran raced to the diary room. Garth won that race and in doing so gained himself an extra vote at that night's eviction ceremony.

By the six-hour mark there were just three housemates remaining - Angela, Xavier and Marissa. After an impressive innings the oldest housemate fell, leaving it as a straight shootout between Xavier and Angela.

Angela looked the most comfortable of the two and after six hours and 41 minutes, Xavier surrendered to hand Angela her second straight win.

"I'm just going to nominate purely for the house," she told BB, saying that the drama from the night before had influenced her decision.

She went on to pick Danni, "the kind of girl I avoid", "shit-stirrer" Garth and Zoe for her part in the "tiff".

Garth was left bemused by Angela's decision but confident of his chances, telling BB: "Girl, really? I just feel a little bit betrayed by her. I'm embarrassed because I thought I could trust her completely, silly me. I don't want to be cocky, I'm feeling quite safe. I think I'm in a really good place in the house."

At the eviction ceremony Danni admitted that she was totally confused about the drama that had gone down the night before, and Garth revealed that someone had told him that she had branded him "a snake", without naming Kieran. It became clear to Garth that that was untrue.

Nevertheless, the house voted and with 11 votes against her, Danni paid the price for Kieran's lie and was shown the door.

"I think I was playing a great game," she said after being evicted. "I'm so confused about what went on tonight. If my gut and my intuition is right, I believe it was you Kieran. Kieran might have been that snake."

Pulling Marissa aside, a furious Garth confided in her that Kieran "started that whole thing. I'm so angry."
