Alicia Blagg and Rebecca Gallantree have comfortably progressed to the final of the 3m synchro at the Diving World Cup in Rio de Janeiro.

In a tightly-contested preliminary round, the veteran GB pair posted two 60-plus scores and a 70-plus score on their way to a total of 298.14, good enough for fourth place.

China's Shi Tingmao and Wu Minxia led the pack with 316.80 across the five rounds, including a session-best 75.60 for their inward 2-1/2, with Italy's Tania Cognotto and Francesca Dallape qualifying in second and Aussie duo Amy Mills and Esther Qin finishing third.

A field of 15 pairings was trimmed down to 12 ahead of the final tonight, with Korea, Japan and Russia all failing to make the cut.
