Young British diver Georgia Ward has managed a respectable eighth-place finish in the women's 10m platform event at the Diving World Cup in Rio de Janeiro.

Competing in her first world-level event, Ward had previously secured an Olympics quota place for Team GB in the 10m thanks to a strong showing in the preliminary stage.

Ward's overall tally of 321.00 included an impressive 72.00 for her complex third dive in the routine, an armstand back with 2 somersaults and 1-1/2 twists.

Australia's Melissa Wu took the final podium spot with a total of 380.50.
