Result: Phil Taylor reaches final of World Darts Championship

Phil Taylor sets up a potential fairytale finale to his glittering career by reaching the final of the World Darts Championship with victory over Jamie Lewis.

Phil Taylor has reached the final of the World Darts Championship for the 21st time in his career.

The 16-time champion, who will retire at the end of the tournament, thrashed Jamie Lewis 6-1 in the semi-final at Alexandra Palace this evening to set up a potential fairytale finale to his glittering career.

Welsh qualifier Lewis, who was a surprise semi-finalist, missed a number of chances to put Taylor away in the opening sets, and 'The Power' took full advantage of his opponent's errors to gain control of the match.

In the end it was a fairly comfortable victory for the 57-year-old, who maintains his record of having won every single one of his appearances in the World Championship semis.

The Englishman, who is widely regarded as the greatest darts player of all time, will now face either world number one and reigning champion Michael van Gerwen or compatriot Rob Cross in the final on New Year's Day, when he could pick up a record 17th title.
