New Zealand batsmen Ross Taylor has suggested that the decision to recall Australian tail-ender Nathan Lyon has "had a big bearing on the match".
Lyon was eventually out for 34 as the Baggy Greens recovered from 116-8 to 224 all out and a slender first-innings lead in the first day-night Test match at the Adelaide Oval, but was originally adjudged to be caught out earlier in his knock.
However, after third umpire Nigel Llong said that there was no conclusive evidence to give Lyon out with hot spot appearing to show a slight edge, Taylor struggled to hide his bemusement with the decision.
He told reporters: "The players were pretty confident it was out, with the hot spot that showed up and Lyon walking off and nearly getting to the boundary. It's had a big bearing on the match.
"But it is what is it, we've just got to get on with it and hopefully we can bat as long as possible tomorrow.
"That was one of the discussions the boys had in the changing room. We can understand when umpires make the wrong decision on the field but once you've got so many different angles you think 99 to 100% of the time you're going to get the right answer. I guess we didn't today."
The Kiwis were eventually reduced to 116-5, but still have BJ Watling and all-rounder Mitchell Santner at the crease.
