Stuart Broad speaks of his anguish following the news that teammate James Taylor has retired because of a serious heart condition.

Stuart Broad has revealed that he was "gutted" to learn that his England and Nottinghamshire teammate James Taylor had been forced to retire from cricket with immediate effect.

The discovery of a serious heart condition left 26-year-old Taylor with no option but to call time on a career that saw him make seven Test appearances.

"Gutted for @jamestaylor20. Cruel news but he's one of the strongest guys I know with a brilliant family around him," Broad wrote on Twitter.

Taylor scored 9,306 runs during his 139 first-class outings for Notts.
