England's Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow set Yorkshire record

Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow put together a record partnership of 372 runs for Yorkshire ahead of England's Test clashes with Sri Lanka.

Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow prepared for England's upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka by piling on the runs for Yorkshire against Surrey this afternoon.

The pair came together at Headingley with their side wobbling on 45-3.

However, they went on to produce a partnership that was worth 372 runs, which is a record fourth-wicket stand for Yorkshire.

Bairstow was eventually dismissed by James Burke for 198, while Root remained unbeaten on 190 at the close of play.

The first of England's three-match series against Sri Lanka gets underway at Headingley on Thursday, May 19.
