Result: Ryan Farrag wins European bantamweight crown

British bantamweight Ryan Farrag upsets former world title challenger Stephane Jamoye to claim the European title.

British bantamweight Ryan Farrag has recorded a surprise ninth-round stoppage of Stephane Jamoye to win the European title.

After being inactive during 2015, the Liverpudlian was considered the underdog in his bout with Jamoye, a two-time world title challenger who was competing in front of his home supporters in Belgium.

However, during an exciting contest, Farrag frequently troubled his opponent, rocking him in the fourth round before sending Jamoye to the canvas in the seventh.

Jamoye, who lost to Scott Quigg in three rounds last year, recovered but towards the end of the ninth, he appeared to be fading and that allowed Farrag to step in and floor him for a second time, leading to the referee stopping the fight.

Farrag improves his professional record to 14 wins from 15 outings.
