Dillian Whyte calls for showdown with Tony Bellew

British heavyweight Dillian Whyte says that he is willing to face Tony Bellew on December 17 after the withdrawal of David Haye due to injury.

Dillian Whyte has become the latest name in the mix to face Tony Bellew on December 17.

On Monday, David Haye announced that he had undergone surgery on an arm injury, which has led to the two-weight world champion withdrawing from his rematch with Bellew.

Tyson Fury has already suggested a fight with Bellew, if he can resolve his ongoing issue with UKAD, but Whyte has claimed that he is ready to compete next month.

Whyte only fought at the end of October as he claimed the WBC Silver title with a points win over Robert Helenius, but the 29-year-old has been struggling to tie down a world title shot against either Deontay Wilder or Joseph Parker.

Promoter Eddie Hearn has already pencilled in February 3 as Whyte's comeback date, and that is likely to remain the case despite Whyte's wishes.
