BBBofC lifts Tyson Fury suspension

The British Boxing Board of Control says that it will lift Tyson Fury's suspension, "subject to receipt and clearance of all medical requirements".

Tyson Fury has been given permission to resume his boxing career by the British Boxing Board of Control, "subject to receipt and clearance of all medical requirements".

Fury has not fought since dethroning unified world heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko in Dusseldorf in November 2015 due to a lengthy saga with UKAD and acknowledging issues with mental health.

However, the 29-year-old has recently returned to training with the intention of competing during the spring, and the North-West fighter has taken a step closer to making his highly-anticipated return.

After holding an interview with Fury, the BBBofC has said that it will reinstate the undefeated boxer's licence subject to him passing any relevant medical tests in the coming weeks.

The latest development, in theory, increases the chances of Fury gaining an opportunity to fight for the world heavyweight title before the end of the year, although Anthony Joshua, Joseph Parker and Deontay Wilder all have mandatory obligations after their next fights.
