England's Rajiv Ouseph happy with "solid" start at Commonwealth Games

Rajiv Ouseph says that he will take it "match by match" after progressing to the round of 32 in the men's singles in Glasgow.

Team England's Rajiv Ouseph has said that he is happy with his "solid" start to the men's singles at the Commonwealth Games.

The 27-year-old eased past Zambia's Chongo Mulenga in straight sets at the Emirates Arena earlier today, booking his place in the round of 32 with a 21-10 21-9 victory.

"It was nice just to get off to a solid win and take it match by match now," Ouseph told reporters. "I will now sleep and recover - a classic athlete's day I think."

Of his 15-year-old opponent, Ouseph added: "He was better than I thought he was going to be. It was probably a nice occasion for him. For that age, he is not bad at all."

Ouseph won a silver medal in the men's singles event in Delhi four years ago.
