Donovan McNabb jailed for driving under influence

Former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb is sentenced to 18 days in prison for a DUI offence.

Former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb has been sentenced to 18 days in prison after he pleaded guilty of a non-extreme driving under the influence offence.

McNabb was stopped by police in a suburb of Phoenix, Arizona on June 28 while driving impaired, and is scheduled to report to jail on November 30.

His attorney, Thomas Connelly, told Phoenix TV station KTVK on Friday that McNabb will serve 18 days in jail with work release and will be under house arrest for the remainder of his 90-day sentence.

The 38-year-old former Eagles star played 13 seasons in the NFL from 1999 until 2011 and led the franchise to four straight NFC championship games from 2001 to 2004 and one Super Bowl.

After 11 seasons with in Philadelphia he went on to play for Washington in 2010 and Minnesota in 2011 before retiring from the sport.
