Brock Osweiler will replace Peyton Manning at quarterback when the Denver Broncos meet the Chicago bears on Sunday.

Denver Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak has confirmed that Peyton Manning will be replaced by second-string quarterback Brock Osweiler against the Chicago Bears on Sunday.

Manning, who was removed in the third quarter of Sunday's 29-13 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, has been battling rib and shoulder injuries in recent weeks, while it has also been revealed that he had suffered a partially torn plantar fascia in his left foot.

Despite setting the NFL record for passing yards against the Chiefs, it was a disappointing performance from the 39-year-old as he finished 5-of-20 passing for 35 yards and four interceptions.

"[I] told the team this week that Peyton is not going to play, that Brock is going to play this week and that all of our full attention is going to be to getting Peyton back and healthy," Kubiak, whose side are 7-2 for the season, told reporters.

"That decision has been made. I know that's the best decision for him, to get him back and healthy, and we need to know where we're heading this week."

Osweiler will make his first start in the NFL after being drafted by the Broncos in 2012.
