The Carolina Panthers are the first team to clinch a playoff place in the 2015 NFL season after being crowned NFC South champions.

The Carolina Panthers have secured the NFC South division title for the third year in a row following the Atlanta Falcons' loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this evening.

The team, who are the only side yet to lose in the 2015 NFL season, are the first franchise to book their spot in the post-season, doing so with five games still to play, with the Falcons and Buccaneers now five wins adrift on 6-6 records.

The Panthers won the division with a losing record last season, beating the Arizona Cardinals in the wildcard round of the playoffs before being eliminated in a 31-17 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC divisional round.

The Panthers will be looking to improve to 12-0 in their game against the New Orleans Saints this evening.
