Result: Carson Palmer helps Arizona Cardinals blow away Detroit Lions

Carson Palmer throws three touchdown passes as the Arizona Cardinals thrash the Detroit Lions 42-17.

Arizona Cardinals have moved to 4-1 in the NFC West after a comfortable victory against the Detroit Lions, who are still searching for their first win of the season.

The Lions started badly, with Matthew Stafford intended pass for Theo Riddick being intercepted before a Josh Mauro fumble gave possession to the Cards.

However, both mistakes went unpunished and Detroit took the lead after Stafford's long pass to Corey Fuller helped set up a score for Riddick.

Arizona levelled the scores when Carson Palmer threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Darren Fells at the start of the second quarter.

Stafford was then intercepted for the second time in the first half when he was picked off by big defensive end Cory Redding, who almost ran back down the field for the touchdown.

The Cards did score soon after as rookie running-back David Johnson ran in from four-yards out with just over three minutes of the first half left.

Arizona quick regained possession as Palmer went to John Brown for his second touchdown pass of the half.

Early in the third quarter, Stafford was picked for a third time and the Cardinals duly drove down the field to set up a Larry Fitzgerald TD.

With the game won, Drew Stanton was drafted in to replace Palmer, but Arizona continued to pile on the points as Andre Ellington ran 63 yards for a touchdown.

Dan Orlovsky would ultimately stand in for Stafford in the final minutes and threw a touchdown pass for Lance Moore, but it proved to be a consolation as the Lions remain without a victory in 2015.
